The Bellville General Hospital Auxiliary was organized in 1976, and at that time was comprised of only ladies in pinafores who were trained to give out juice, water, coffee, etc. to patients, update the patient information board, keep the latest magazines straight in the lobby, and the like. The main fund raiser was an annual rummage sale, the money being used to buy equipment for the hospital. Uniforms evolved to pink smocks, then duties evolved to manning the Hospital information desk. In the meantime men joined, and for a while one manned the Hospital popcorn machine. On April 1, 2004 the Resale Shop opened, and since that time all efforts have been concentrated there. Uniforms are now red aprons, and this fundraiser has surpassed all expectations, the profits all being used to buy equipment for our Hospital.
